A STORY OF REMEMBERING OUR ANCIENT CONNECTIONS

A group of women, led by an initiated Kontomblé Voice Diviner, pilgrimage into Northern Mongolia to heal the wounds created by modernity’s disconnection from our ancestors and our ancient relationship with the Little People of the Earth.

As they journey deeper, they learn that the pain humanity carries today has a direct relationship with a deeper trauma that hasn’t been resolved. As lands were being conquered, lust and greed created systematic oppression which divided the people’s ancient connection to the land, the elemental Beings, and ourselves.

Following the messages from the Kontomblé, the pilgrimage begins to seam together how living in reciprocity, honouring the Little People of the Earth, and harnessing our creativity are guiding lights for healing our collective wounds.

Woven together by interviews and dreamlike vignettes, it’s a story of grief in being lost and forgotten, and how by remembering our sacred relationship with the Little People, we truly can heal the world.

THE REMEMBERING FILM TOUR - TOKYO

“I came out from the ceremony with full of love and hope in my heart. It took so long to turn my eyes back to the country that I was born and raised. At one point, I was pretty hopeless at the future of Japan and shamed being Japanese. And then I connected with my soul family, who truly willing to honor Japan and the Earth, through the ceremony. I can see the beauty of the country and its culture again. Is there anything more precious than this?”

- KYOKO KATO, CHINESE MEDICINE PRACTITIONER

REVIEWS FOR THE REMEMBERING

The trailer is a tantalizing glimpse of what just might be one of the most important documentaries to emerge this year. I love the title, Remembering, as this is a phrase I use in presentations I offer. It Is The Time To Remember. We know the truth. We know who we are, why we are. We just have to remember. Blessings on this project.
— Gary Cook, Filmmaker

Just WOW on so many levels. This film was brilliant in it’s elegant, reverent, moving imagery, and words about being in right relationship with each other and the Earth. I wept. I absolutely loved it. Thank you for creating this.

BEHIND THE FILM

Liv Mokai Wheeler is an initiated Kontomblé Voice Diviner, ritual facilitator, and multidimensional spiritual teacher that has dedicated her life to reweaving the human experience with the Sacred. She trained and apprenticed for 8 years with Elder Malidoma Patrice Somé (author, PhD, West African Shaman) and made many pilgrimages to Burkina Faso.  During that time, she met with the medicine people and also reconnected with the Little People known as the Kontomblé.

For the past sixteen years, Liv has traveled the world connecting people to the vast ecologies of Spirit that exist in all communities. As a voice for the Little People of the Earth, she has reignited people’s awareness of the spirit realm across cultures and landscapes. Liv’s work is powerful and heart-centered, offering the deepest respect for self and Spirit. Liv reconnects individuals and groups of people with the very real experience of a spiritual world that is as complex and intricate as the one we experience in our daily physical lives. She embodies the initiated feminine role of priestess and spiritual teacher. Her work is genuine, heartfelt, courageous, and uncompromising, teaching all who experience the Sacred with her to approach it with the utmost respect, and to approach the ancestors and relatives in the realms of spirit with the reverence and dignity they deserve. Ultimately, Liv is dedicated to restoring what is human to humanity, in the embodiment of the heart, dignity, courage, and humbleness befitting a person that understands that we are here to serve what is Sacred, feeding the unseen so that it, in turn, may continue to feed Life.

The calling to Mongolia came to Liv during several deep ayahuasca ceremonies, then continued to increase as time passed. Following the cues of Spirit, and through a synchronistic connection with the cinematographer, Emmy Wu, this film was born.

This film is the story of our ancestral connection with the Little People and to Mother Earth. In remembering where we came from, may we find our way again.

READ THE BOOK

"...THEY WERE COMMUNICATING ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF BRAVERY IN THESE TIMES. THEY WERE EQUATING BRAVERY TO THE AMOUNT OF LIFE FORCE ONE HAS IN THEIR BODY. OR THE CONTRARY, BEING YOU'RE SLOWLY RIDDING YOURSELF OF LIFE ENERGY BY HOLDING BACK. THEY WERE EXPRESSING THAT THE ACT OF BRAVERY WOULD BE LIKE RETRIEVING YOUR ENERGY, YOUR LIFE FORCE."

Trained and initiated as a Kontomblé Voice Diviner in the Dagara tradition of West Africa, Liv Mokai has spent her life working in service and collaboration with these wise, loving beings, personally and profoundly experiencing the vast range and depth of their magic and medicine, their wisdom and ways.

In With The Love of The Ancients, Liv Mokai shares her very real and wonder-filled story of discovering these spirits, these little people, the Kontomblé, and the cross-country and then global journey of ritual and community healing they have charted for her, as their chosen emissary, voice and vision-carrier in these unique and critical times.
